Vasileios Madouros announced as Central Bank’s new Director of Financial Stability

A new Director of Financial Stability for the Central Bank has been announced

Vasileios Madouros, currently Head of the Macrofinancial Risks Division in the Bank of England, will take up the role next January.

The Director of Financial Stability is a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the Central Bank and leads a team of over 70 staff. 

He responsible for the leadership of the Macro-Financial Division, Resolution Division, the Central Credit Register, Markets-Based Finance and International Relations.

Deputy Governor Sharon Donnery said that Vasileios brings “extensive experience in risk assessment, the development and implementation of macroprudential policy, and stress-testing”.

“His technical knowledge in central banking will greatly contribute to the leadership of policy, analytical work on sources of systemic risk in the financial system, as well as the actions we take to mitigate risk including the orderly resolution of institutions,” she said.

He holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Warwick and a M.Sc. in Economics from Birbeck College, University of London.
